Sheryl Crow & Laurie David: Evidence of Global Dumbing

Meaningful and constructive discourse concerning the environment is now impossible due to the "new religion" status accorded to "global warming", et. al. Nothing will be accomplished when hysteria prevails. In addition, the mindless hypocritical stupidity of celebrity spokespeople (see below) and the public reduces the possibility that meaningful steps will be taken to reduce emissions, protect forests, etc.

However, there is one ray of hope. The prevailing irrationality, political correctness, and general hysteria that dominate these issues are an extremely strong contrary indicator - that all fears are unfounded . . . . but I doubt it in this case.

The Sheryl Crow & Laurie David Stop Global Warming College Tour is proving to be a treasure trove of almost troublingly stupid quotes:

Sheryl's idea for reducing consumption of paper:
"I propose a limitation be put on how many squares of toilet paper can be used in any one sitting. Now, I don't want to rob any law-abiding American of his or her God-given rights, but I think we are an industrious enough people that we can make it work with only one square per restroom visit, except, of course, on those pesky occasions where 2 to 3 could be required."
Of course she jumped on a plane a couple days later to do a concert in NY, the jet fuel burned eliminating the positive effects if she were not to use toilet paper for the next 50 years.

Further paper thoughts, this one nobody could make up:
"I also like the idea of not using paper napkins, which happen to be made from virgin wood and represent the height of wastefulness. I have designed a clothing line that has what's called a "dining sleeve." The sleeve is detachable and can be replaced with another "dining sleeve," after usage. The design will offer the "diner" the convenience of wiping his mouth on his sleeve rather than throwing out yet another barely used paper product. I think this idea could also translate quite well to those suffering with an annoying head cold."
Did she lift this idea from a Larry David skit for Seinfeld?

Sheryl is against further use of coal for electricity generation because coal mining "uses dynamite to blow the tops off of mountains." Apparently hillsides are mountain tops = to the Matterhorn in Sheryl's little mind. And I guess it won't occur to her that metal for her ipod, cars, appliances is also mined . . .

Sheryl in New Orleans
"It is beyond all of us to understand that, in this country, there is a need for volunteers and people like them to give money to help an area, a neighborhood, a whole community to recover from a tragic worldwide re-known climatic event."
That explains her simplistic lyrics.

. . . more on New Orleans
I think America can be credited with creating the term ‘teamplayer’ and if that is the case, I don’t think you will find a stronger example of the opposite of that when it comes to examining the overall input of effort of a nation in helping their compatriots reclaim their lives.
Maybe a really stoned roadie wrote all this.

From Laurie David: "How hardened and removed from reality must a person be to refuse to be touched by Sheryl Crow?" NOW I understand why "An Inconvenient Truth" is so Unbelievably Stupid.
